Supporting the AFS Plains States Chapter

Howdy from Texas where we are getting ready to celebrate the "traditional" end of Summer with the Labor Day weekend.  Schools are already back in session and the teachers are scratching their nails on the chalk boards trying to maintain order.  The college kiddos have flooded back as well.

Sandy Salisbury Linton, secretary - treasurer, of the AFS Plains States Chapter has sent me details on their upcoming meetings and other information.  Oh, by the way, Sandy, Jim, and Tonkawa Foundry are great customers of Synchro ERP and have been for a number of years.

So, here is some publicity for the AFS Plains States Chapter.  At the end of the day, we are all metalcasters, be it in Texas or in the Plains States, so supporting metalcasting with education, advocacy, and innovation is so so important.

So, without further adieu, and until next time, see you on down the road and have a very SAFE Labor Day weekend.  BTW, Synchro ERP will be providing full support on Monday, as the other offices will be open as they do not celebrate the USA Labor Day.  Just another reason why Synchro ERP is unique...

So, from Indian Territory, North of the Red River...

Oh, 100 points if anyone can tell me why the Cimarron River is named as such?  Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents who lived in the Cimarron Valley and whose parents actually participated in the land rush and were "probably" Sooners.  Everytime we would cross the Cimarron River, my Pappy and Grammy would always tell me about how the Cimarron River got it's name...

Oh, finally, and without any further adieu ...

Congratulations are in Order

On behalf of the global Synchro ERP team, we want to again congratulate Jack and his fine team at ARISTOCAST on achieving the AFS 2014 Metalcaster of the Year.  The article appeared in the June 2014 Modern Casting and was republished in this months INCAST.

Speaking of INCAST, it shan't be long until the Investment Casting Equipment Show in October.  Details are at 2014 ICI Covington KY

Then again, speaking on INCAST, it shan't be long till Simon and I get to visit Palm Springs with the NFFS show.  I've never been to Palm Springs and am really looking forward to it.  Details are at NFFS 2014

AFS Texas meeting - August 2014 - Write up and Pictures ...

August 18th 2014

Shane Allen, Head of Synchro ERP North American Operations, had the pleasure of representing the global team at the recent AFS, American Foundry Society, Texas Chapter board planning meeting.  The event was held in Corsicana Texas which is about sixty miles south of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Eric Meyers, President of Oil City Iron Works and chapter chairman, hosted the event at the Corsicana Country Club and a fine fare was provided.

This was the 2014-2015 planning meeting and the upcoming events were covered in-depth as well as the financials and budget of the chapter.   A lot of quality time and energy has been expended by the membership in getting the upcoming15th AFS Texas Regional organized.  The dates of the event are September 24th - 26th at the Hilton in Arlington Texas.    For complete details and registration information, please visit  http://www.afs-tx.org/regional/2014/regional_main.htm

Sponsors are still needed to help defray the costs of the event and to get their name out in front of the attendees .

This will be an "All Star" event with the heavy hitters of Chris Norch, AFS National President from President of Denison Industries Texas and Leo Baran, AFS National Director of Membership Services speaking at the event.

Please contact Dan Smith, Vice Chairman of the AFS Texas Chapter, at 903-759-3946 or by email at DSmith@swscc.com regarding sponsorship packages.

The schedule of events for 2014-2015 include:
·         September 24th - 26th 2014 Regional at Arlington Hilton
·         November 14th 2014 Choctaw Casino, Oklahoma
·         Jan 30th 2015 Sam Houston Race Park
·         April 10th 2014 Corsicana Golf Tournament
·         June 12th - 13th  JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa

In additional news from the planning meeting, Shane Allen was nominated and he accepted being the chairman of the publicity committee.  Other members of this committee include Ben Riley, Eric R. Meyers, and Steve Hodges.

There are additional sponsorship opportunities for the upcoming AFS Texas Sam Houston Race Track meeting held in January 2015 .  A sponsor is needed for providing the box lunch for the Texas Trouble Shooters Meeting.  This is a popular class that focuses on solving problems within the foundry.   The preliminary topic for this year's meeting will be to cover solidification modelling, gating, and risers.

Dr. Laura Bartlett, Professor at Texas State University, provided an update on the success of the foundry program and how AFS Texas is really supporting their needs.  They have students lined up for the foundry course and also students participating in internships.

Until next time, see you on down the road at the 15th AFS Texas Regional.

Only 135 Days Left in 2014!

Howdy from Texas,

WOW!  Where has the year gone?  It's hard to believe that it's already mid August and before too long we will be ringing in the New Year of 2015!

Count Down To 2015

Interestingly, 2015 will be the Chinese year of the Sheep!

I just got back from the American Foundry Society, AFS, Texas chapter board meeting in which I am pleased to represent Synchro ERP as a member of the board of directors.  This was a planning meeting in Corsicana Texas, which is about sixty miles south of the Dallas Metroplex.

The board meeting was very productive and everyone had a good time.  It is nice to break bread with foundry people and hear what all is going on in the industry.   The "focus" of the meeting was the final preparations for the upcoming 15th Texas AFS Regional being held September 24th - 26th in Arlington Texas which is right in the heart of the Dallas Metroplex.

Sponsors are still being sought for this event and there is an all star line up of speakers planned.  This will be a really fantastic outing.  Details and registration are at 15th Texas AFS Regional Conference

During the meeting I was "nominated" and I accepted being the chairman of the publicity committee!  PR is something I have been told that I am really good at and I do enjoy it as I like to "press the flesh"

All is well in the land of Synchro ERP.  The implementation and training teams are racking up the frequent flyer miles this year!

Until next time, see you on down the road in Arlington Texas.
