Cow Town USA

Hello from blazing hot Texas!

I made a run to Fort Worth, cow town USA, last week to attend the American Foundry Society, AFS Texas Board meeting.

The Texas Chapter has really two main functions, (1) to promote the foundry and metalcasting industry and (2) to provide educational support in the form of scholarships to university/college students.  Very noble causes!

The meeting was well attended by the board members, and we had a special guest on the floor...

This must be Texas, as the BBQ joint walls were lined with hunting trophy's!

The BBQ was most outstanding, I honestly believe that it was the best BBQ I have ever had!  Sliced beef sandwich was so good, I had two of them!   I wish I had of gotten a couple of pounds of sliced beef to bring home!

 Next up is the AFS Texas get-together at the Ballpark in Arlington to watch the Texas Rangers play baseball.  Friday, September 13th 2013.  See all the details and upcoming events @

In the land of Synchro ERP, all is well, Barbara and Bianca are hard at work preparing for the upcoming show schedule in October - it takes a huge amount of work to get everything lined up and moving in the same direction, especially since we will be doing two shows back-to-back - the ICI in Pittsburgh and the NFFS in Scottsdale AZ.

Simon and Richy are over in the UAE continuing an installation, Jean-Marie is safely back from a run through Ole Mexico and a week of R&R.  Chris is heading up the development team getting new features and customer requests ironed out.  Lee and his support team of Jon and Daniel are keeping all of the customers satisfied and Kevin is marching through Brazil.

Well, until next time, and this will probably be the last BLOG update for JULY 2013, as August is upon us.  I've already started to receive holiday season catalogs in the mail, it's only Days to Christmas.

Well, until next time, see you on down the road.

Whats New?

Welcome to July half way through the year already - can you believe it?

We have some new development to share with you;

Heat Treatment Tracking......

The ability to track the heat treatment of castings to a pre-defined oven and heat treatment type. Individual characteristics of each heat treatment cycle will be stored such as start time, end time, cooling method and much more. Castings will be linked to the cycle from the unique casting number register, part number and cast metal heat or works order number.

And

Weld Log Register........

The ability to track welding carried out on a casting (unique ID/Serial Number). This will record the welder name, position of the weld on the casting, type or welding rods used, batch(s) of weld rod, quantity (& Weight) of rods used. A weld map could also be attached to show visually where each weld occurred. The welder will have access to the welding specification stored against the part to make sure the weld falls within spec.

Our loyal customers have given us yet more brilliant feedback;

It has been a pleasure working with the entire Synchro team – “You have provided the best customer service I have ever
experienced! You set the bar for customer service and I appreciate how you made my job easier!”

What's Cooking?

Howdy yet again from Texas,

Thought I'd share some photos from last nights cookout.   A good time was had by all, except Wyatt Earp who obviously didn't get to partake.  I am very strict that my canine buddy eats only the best dog food, but no human food.

Until next time, see you on down the road...

Something to Think About

Howdy from hot and sweltering Texas, it must be JULY in the Northern hemisphere.   I have to remind myself that my friends, customers, and colleagues in the Southern hemisphere have the seasons the other way around.   July in Texas means Summer, while in Australia it is Winter.  I have a hard time imagining Christmas in the Summer time down under.

Anyway, something to think about.  I was talking with a sales lead the other day about cloud based computing.  He brought up something I hadn't even considered.  With all of the fall out of the intercept of communications by the USA National Security Agency, NSA, and gentleman reading others emails, he said and I quote "I don't want my data in the cloud for the government to have access to".  Interesting line of thought.  My take on it is the in the worlds 2nd oldest profession, spying, that "gentleman do no read other gentleman's mail".

Funny thing is, long long ago when I was fresh out of college, I actually applied to work at the NSA and also the CIA and several other three letter agencies.  I made it through the first two rounds of interviews and battery tests with the CIA.  I stopped the process as was told that the background checks would take twelve-eighteen months before the process could proceed any further.  At the time, EDS, Electronic Data Systems, you know Henri Ross Perot's company, made me an offer I couldn't refuse, but had to sign a four year contract.  So, I went the route with another three letter company, EDS instead.  EDS did a tremendous amount of work for three letter agencies.  Enough said.  I did get a kurt reply from the NSA saying, thanks, no thanks.  My math skills were just not enough as I stopped at Calculus I.

Anyway, all is well in the land of Synchro ERP.  New contracts signed, sealed, and delivered, and many more in the works. I'll be putting on my bowler hat and making even more sales leads.  Already looking forward to the upcoming exhibitions.  October will be a very busy month with both the ICI in Pittsburgh and the NFFS in Arizona.   I've already informed Simon that he will be the official Synchro ERP golf cart driver at the NFFS as I have little doubt that there will be a lot of golf played at the conference - at such a fine resort.   Talking Stick Golf Club  Of course, in America, and probably throughout the world, many business relationships are fostered on the golf course.

Well, until next time, see you on down the road...
